All students who wish to take an online class are required to read and agree to the Online Classes Orientation Agreement Form.

Information about Online Courses for NEW Students

Online students will receive two accounts to participate in online classes:

1. Blackboard Account - find out your Blackboard Account Information
2. Email Account - find out your Student Email Account Information

Blackboard

Blackboard allows you to begin your online learning experience. Once you enter your username and password, you will go directly to your own course homepage.

The username and password for Blackboard is:
schoolcode_studentid.

The school code for CGTC is 35 and your student id is the number printed on your ID card. You will NOT be able to use your social security number.

For example, if your school is Central Georgia Technical College and your student id is 910199999, your username would be 35_910199999 and your password would be 35_910199999.

New users are advised to change their password the first time they log in to Blackboard.

Blackboard will be unavailable to Fall Quarter students until the first day of the quarter.

ALL STUDENTS will be provided student email accounts. Please review the student email account information which includes account information, FAQs, and technical support.

The following two Web sites should be bookmarked or added to your "favorites" in your web browser:

READI - Are you a good candidate for online learning?

READI - Readiness for Education at a Distance Indicator READI is a tool which helps you determine your level of readiness for taking online courses. You will be asked questions on topics in the areas of how well you can use a computer; how motivated, organized, and self-directed you are; how you prefer to learn new information; your typing speed and accuracy, and you will even be able to measure your on-screen reading speed and comprehension. But relax, READI is fun. Your scores on this assessment will not prevent you from being able to take online classes, nor will your scores impact your grades in courses you may already be taking. READI is just being provided by CGTC to help you understand your strengths and weaknesses better as you prepare to learn online. READI is a tool to help you succeed! After completing READI you will view a webpage which will show you your scores in easy to interpret graphs and text. In addition to that, you may receive an email from your instructor letting you know about sources for support in the areas in which you might could use some assistance. To login to READI, please go to http://centralgatech.readi.info/. The generic username for all CGTC students is as follows: Username: cgtc Password: student Please login in with the above information in the 'New Users' section of the page. After completing the assessment, READI will email you with a username and password to go back and view or complete the assessment.

About GVTC

CGTC is a member of the Georgia Virtual Technical College (GVTC) which is made up of Georgia's Technical Colleges and Technical Institutes. The GVTC members work together creating online courses and programs using the World Wide Web as a delivery medium.
