Letter from the Dean

Sallie DeveroThe adult education program (AEP) establishes centers to serve members of its seven county Service Delivery Area (SDA). Education is an investment in your future that will yield a big return. The Central Georgia community is on the threshold of new career opportunities for people that have technical skills needed to fill positions previously held by retiring baby boomers. A student in school today will soon reap the benefits of their efforts.

The AEP provides instruction and materials to support adults seeking to improve reading, math and language skills. There is no cost for services to students enrolled in AEP programs.

A student that successfully completes the adult education program will have the skills needed to successfully enroll in college, attain a General Educational Development-(GED) diploma if needed, and earn a Georgia Work Ready Certificate.

To enroll, one must attend an orientation to assess academic skill levels. The AEP staff will use this information to develop a customized student education plan (SEP) to individualize and serve the specific needs of the student. Both traditional classroom and distance learning programs are available to accommodate virtually all schedules and challenges facing adults that must manage multiple responsibilities.

Completion of the program is relative to the student's academic skills, learning ability, attendance hours, and dedication to studying on a weekly basis and motivation to complete his or her academic goals. It is recommended that students devote at least 6 to 10 hours a week to study; the program has opportunities for classroom instruction to be supplemented with online instruction.

In addition to the classroom experience, the AEP offers programs:

We look forward to being a part of your educational plan.
