CGTC Expanded Statement of Purpose

CGTC will work to meet its mission by providing educational and workforce development programs and services that support the economic development and well-being of the citizens, communities, businesses, and industries of Baldwin, Bibb, Crawford, Jones, Monroe, Putnam, and Twiggs counties. More specifically CGTC will provide:

• quality academic and technical instruction leading to career preparation at the certificate, diploma, and associate degree levels through traditional and distance education methods and media including online instruction;
• adult basic education, English education, GED preparation and testing, and citizenship services;
• seamless, accessible educational delivery that seeks to remove barriers between high schools and technical colleges, between sister technical colleges, and between technical colleges and other institutions of higher learning;
• expanded educational opportunities for all adults within the service area by means of effective communications and recruitment efforts;
• continuing education, which contributes to professional development and lifelong learning;
• customized business and industry credit and non-credit training and services offered throughout the service area;
• student support services and academic success services, which will enhance student preparation, student learning and student retention;
• library collections and services as well as instructional technology services;
• community involvement in and support for the College and broader learning environment;
• effective and efficient management; ongoing internal workforce development; and quality information systems, technology, and other educational resources;
• coordination of data collection and analyses for planning, budgeting and decision making; and
• educational activities for the enhancement of the collegiate community and all service area communities.
