Student Preparation, Retention, and Success

A variety of programs and services will be available to support student success, increase retention, and enhance student learning – from career counseling and financial aid services during program enrollment, to academic preparation to support educational programs, to student life services.

Goal 4. Increase student preparation, retention, and success by providing a student-centered teaching/learning process and needed support programs and services for credit and non-credit students.

Expected Results

Adult Education Level Completions – Each year, from FY 2009 through FY 2014, the number of level completions achieved by CGTC adult education students will increase one percent (1%).*

GED Graduates – By FY 2014, CGTC will award seven-hundred-twenty (720) GED credentials annually.*

Technical Program Retention Rate – By FY 2014, the student retention for technical programs will be at least seventy-three percent (73%).*

Credit Graduation Rate – By FY 2014, the student graduation for technical programs will be at least forty-five percent (45%).*

G4. Objective 1. Learning Engagement

Provide enhanced support services to improve student engagement in the learning process.

G4. Objective 2. Adult Education

Expand specialized instruction, GED preparation, and GED testing services.

G4. Objective 3. High School Recovery

Collaborate with area high schools to assist in implementing high school recovery programs.

G4. Objective 4. Admission Exam Preparation and Testing

Increase availability of placement test preparation at high schools, at College sites, and online; provide walk-in Compass testing; and offer health occupations test preparation workshops.

G4. Objective 5. Academic Support Centers

Provide enhanced support services to improve student learning outcomes and retention through Academic Support Centers for all campuses and expand services for remote sites including enhanced Developmental Studies, expanded tutoring, and enhanced College orientation.

G4. Objective 6. Student Friendly Delivery

Continue to improve student-friendly credit and non-credit class scheduling, expanded hybrid instructional delivery, and innovative clinical schedules.

G4. Objective 7. Mentors

Provide mentors, including advanced students, alumni, and others, to assist students to be successful in their programs of study.

G4. Objective 8. Learning Outcomes

Implement expanded BANNER capabilities and other information system upgrades to improve student learning through better tracking and analysis of student learning outcomes.

G4. Objective 9. Student Safety Net

Work through the College's Foundation to provide a critical needs scholarship fund to support credit and adult education students.
