Strategic Plan

CGTC Vision

CGTC will strengthen workforce, economic, and community development for its seven-county service area by providing expanded educational opportunities for students, work-ready graduates for area employers, and graduates who create jobs for the community.

CGTC will play a key role in providing an educational "pipeline" that enables students to enter, progress in, and re-enter the educational process as needed to achieve their goals. CGTC will collaborate with area high schools, career academies, and home schools to provide dual and joint enrollment options for secondary students. CGTC will offer a bridge to success for adults who need basic education, English education, and GED services and will help GED students to transition into technical programs. The College will provide opportunities for technical program graduates to progress from technical certificates of credit, to diploma, to associate degree programs, and beyond into affiliated four-year programs. The College will also work to facilitate the entry of experienced workers and four-year-college graduates into technical programs and lifelong learning.

CGTC will be widely known as one of the largest and best institutions within its service area. CGTC will reach out to students during their high school, middle school, and earlier education to enhance awareness of technical education and to encourage academic achievement. Students, parents, and guidance counselors will recognize and acknowledge CGTC as a preferred postsecondary choice. The College will continue to offer web-based programs and services. The College will enhance its marketability by investing in communications and other public relations/marketing activities that lead to increased participation in CGTC programs and services.

CGTC will provide a vibrant collegiate environment. Students, personnel, and graduates will be involved in a variety of professional, personal, and leadership development opportunities as well as recreational and sports activities that lead to a sense of collegiate unity and esprit de corps. The community will turn to CGTC as a source of leadership, expertise, and civic involvement.

A variety of programs and services will be available to support student success, increase retention, and enhance student learning – from career counseling and financial aid services during program enrollment, to academic preparation to support educational programs, to student life services.

High quality credit and noncredit programs will anticipate emerging technologies and career trends and be responsive to local employer demand, strategic industry needs, and student needs for advanced and continuing education. CGTC will be recognized as the regional leader for healthcare technical professional training.

CGTC business and industry services will stimulate and sustain economic development by providing quality customized training and services for new and existing companies and organizations. CGTC will lead in implementing statewide economic development initiatives.

CGTC will provide the best technical and adult education resources available. Physical and information technology resources will be state-of-the art; however, excellent personnel resources will be preeminent.

CGTC will offer high quality accredited programs that produce graduates ready for employment, and will do so with maximum transparency, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
