Computer Use Policies
All library computer users are required to adhere to:
I. The Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education (DTAE) “Acceptable Computer and Internet Use” Policy, Section II.C.4. DTAE is the state agency that oversees Georgia’s system of technical colleges, adult literacy, and economic/ workforce development programs. Central Georgia Technical College, a member institution of DTAE, recognizes and adheres to these DTAE approved policies. Please read and become familiar with all policy stipulations.
II. All CGTC Library Services Computer and Internet Use Guidelines described herein:
A. Library Services computer workstations and Internet access are provided to support the curricular and professional research activities of the students, faculty, and staff of Central Georgia Technical College in support of the college’s instructional and training programs. Academic use has the highest priority. Please limit computer use to thirty minutes or less when other patrons are waiting to use the computers.
B. Microsoft® Office software is provided on library computers for the convenience of those that know how to use it. It is not the responsibility of library personnel to provide instruction in the use of Microsoft Office Access, Excel, InfoPath, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Word, or Tools. It is the responsibility of the library computer user to be experienced in the use of these software programs. “Help” features are available within each software program menu to aid users with questions. Additionally there are several Microsoft Office software program beginner’s guides, how-to-manuals, and reference handbooks in the CGTC Library print book and eBook collections. Please search the CGTC Library Catalog for location and access information. Microsoft also offers online training, tutoring, and reference information.
C. Websense® Web Filtering software is utilized on all CGTC networked computers college wide and at all DTAE member institutions statewide to filter, analyze, and track inappropriate utilization of state owned computers and networks. The Websense filtering categories Adult Materials, Sex, and Gambling are blocked by state mandate.
